Det reglerar v\u00e4tskebalansen, hj\u00e4lper nervsystemet att skicka signaler, styr musklernas sammandragning och p\u00e5verkar blodtrycket. Utan tillr\u00e4ckligt med salt skulle kroppen inte kunna uppr\u00e4tth\u00e5lla livsviktiga funktioner. Trots detta \u00e4r det vanligare att vi f\u00e5r i oss f\u00f6r mycket \u00e4n f\u00f6r lite, vilket g\u00f6r salt b\u00e5de en n\u00f6dv\u00e4ndighet och en riskfaktor f\u00f6r h\u00e4lsan.<\/p>\n<h3>Hur salt p\u00e5verkar h\u00e4lsan<\/h3>\n<p>Ett h\u00f6gt saltintag h\u00f6jer blodtrycket och \u00f6kar risken f\u00f6r hj\u00e4rt- och k\u00e4rlsjukdomar, stroke och njursjukdom. WHO ber\u00e4knar att n\u00e4stan 1,9 miljoner d\u00f6dsfall globalt varje \u00e5r kan kopplas till f\u00f6r h\u00f6gt saltintag. F\u00f6r mycket salt kan \u00e4ven bidra till bensk\u00f6rhet, v\u00e4tskeansamling, h\u00f6rselbesv\u00e4r som Meni\u00e8res sjukdom och en h\u00f6gre risk f\u00f6r mags\u00e4ckscancer.<\/p>\n<p>F\u00f6r lite salt \u00e4r d\u00e4remot inte heller bra. Hyponatremi (f\u00f6r l\u00e5ga natriumniv\u00e5er i blodet) kan leda till yrsel, tr\u00f6tthet, huvudv\u00e4rk och i sv\u00e5ra fall kramper eller medvetsl\u00f6shet. Studier visar att \u00e4ven f\u00f6r l\u00e5gt saltintag kan kopplas till f\u00f6rh\u00f6jda blodfetter och i vissa fall h\u00f6gre <a href=\"https:\/\/madebymary.se\/en\/sjukdomar-som-ger-hogt-blodtryck\/\">blodtryck<\/a> hos individer med s\u00e5 kallad \u201cinverse salt sensitivity\u201d. Sambandet mellan salt och d\u00f6dlighet beskrivs d\u00e4rf\u00f6r som U-format \u2013 b\u00e5de f\u00f6r h\u00f6gt och f\u00f6r l\u00e5gt intag inneb\u00e4r risker.<\/p>\n<h3>Rekommendationer f\u00f6r saltintag<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>WHO<\/strong>: max 5 gram salt per dag (cirka 2 000 mg natrium).<\/li>\n<li><strong>USA<\/strong>: max 6 gram salt, men helst ner mot 3,7 gram f\u00f6r k\u00e4nsliga grupper.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sverige<\/strong>: rekommenderat intag \u00e4r 5\u20136 gram per dag.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>En genomsnittlig svensk \u00e4ter ungef\u00e4r 10\u201312 gram salt dagligen, allts\u00e5 n\u00e4stan dubbelt s\u00e5 mycket som rekommenderat. Bara en minskning p\u00e5 1 gram per dag skulle kunna f\u00f6rhindra tusentals d\u00f6dsfall globalt och i Sverige uppskattas en b\u00e4ttre kost med minskat salt kunna f\u00f6rebygga eller skjuta upp \u00f6ver 6 000 d\u00f6dsfall \u00e5rligen.<\/p>\n<h3>Salt i maten \u2013 dolda k\u00e4llor<\/h3>\n<p>Den st\u00f6rsta delen av saltet vi f\u00e5r i oss kommer inte fr\u00e5n saltkaret, utan fr\u00e5n processad mat, f\u00e4rdiglagade r\u00e4tter, br\u00f6d, charkprodukter och snabbmat. Endast omkring 20 % av intaget kommer fr\u00e5n det vi sj\u00e4lva str\u00f6r \u00f6ver maten. Det g\u00f6r det sv\u00e5rt f\u00f6r m\u00e5nga att sj\u00e4lva kontrollera intaget.<\/p>\n<h3>Saltets roll f\u00f6r jod och sk\u00f6ldk\u00f6rteln<\/h3>\n<p>Joderat salt \u00e4r en viktig k\u00e4lla till jod, ett mineral som beh\u00f6vs f\u00f6r sk\u00f6ldk\u00f6rtelhormonens produktion och hj\u00e4rnans utveckling. Brist p\u00e5 jod kan leda till struma och kognitiva problem, s\u00e4rskilt hos barn. D\u00e4rf\u00f6r \u00e4r det viktigt att anv\u00e4nda joderat salt i hush\u00e5llet, s\u00e4rskilt om man minskar p\u00e5 intaget.<\/p>\n<h3>Alternativ till vanligt salt<\/h3>\n<p>Ett intressant omr\u00e5de \u00e4r saltsubstitut, d\u00e4r en del av natriumkloriden ers\u00e4tts med kaliumklorid. Studier visar att dessa kan s\u00e4nka blodtryck, minska risken f\u00f6r stroke, hj\u00e4rt-k\u00e4rlsjukdom och d\u00f6dlighet. Men personer med njursjukdom, diabetes eller hj\u00e4rtproblem b\u00f6r vara f\u00f6rsiktiga och r\u00e5dg\u00f6ra med l\u00e4kare innan de anv\u00e4nder s\u00e5dana alternativ eftersom f\u00f6r h\u00f6ga kaliumniv\u00e5er kan bli farliga.<\/p>\n<h3>Salt och kroppen vid \u00f6verkonsumtion<\/h3>\n<p>N\u00e4r kroppen f\u00e5r f\u00f6r mycket salt binder natrium vatten, vilket g\u00f6r att blodvolymen \u00f6kar och blodtrycket stiger. Det leder till \u00f6kad belastning p\u00e5 hj\u00e4rtat, njurarna och blodk\u00e4rlen. Symptom kan vara svullnad i h\u00e4nder och f\u00f6tter, huvudv\u00e4rk, t\u00f6rst och tr\u00f6tthet. \u00d6verskottet uts\u00f6ndras till viss del via urinen, men l\u00e5ngvarigt h\u00f6gt intag skadar njurarna och p\u00e5verkar hela cirkulationssystemet.<\/p>\n<h3>S\u00e5 kan du minska ditt saltintag<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>V\u00e4lj f\u00e4rsk mat framf\u00f6r f\u00e4rdigmat och processade produkter.<\/li>\n<li>Smaks\u00e4tt med \u00f6rter, citron, vitl\u00f6k, ingef\u00e4ra eller chili ist\u00e4llet f\u00f6r salt.<\/li>\n<li>L\u00e4s inneh\u00e5llsf\u00f6rteckningar och v\u00e4lj livsmedel med l\u00e4gre salthalt.<\/li>\n<li>Anv\u00e4nd joderat salt i sm\u00e5 m\u00e4ngder.<\/li>\n<li>F\u00f6r att balansera ett h\u00f6gt intag: drick mycket vatten, \u00e4t kaliumrika livsmedel som avokado, banan och potatis, och svettas genom tr\u00e4ning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Salt, eller natriumklorid, \u00e4r ett av de mest grundl\u00e4ggande \u00e4mnena f\u00f6r m\u00e4nniskans \u00f6verlevnad.
